Zaporozhye oblast is located in the south-eastern part of Ukraine, southern and south-western borders of the region are washed by Sea of Azov. The biggest navigable river of Ukraine, the Dnieper River, runs the territory of Zaporozhye oblast. The subsoil of region is rich in ore minerals, considerable deposits of manganese ores, granites and pegmatites lie in the depths. Zaporozhye oblast has a powerful industrial potential, leading industries are metallurgy, mechanical engineering and the electricity generating sector, also region has well developed chemical and food industries. Electricity generating sector of Zaporozhye oblast make up to 25% of all electricity produced in Ukraine, the most powerful energy generating enterprises of the region are Dnieper Hydroelectric Station and Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. Zaporozhye oblast is valuable producer of agricultural products, crops, sunflower grows here, food industry sector includes more than 500 enterprises.
